The crag of Pietramaura is located at an altitude of more than 1000 meters, in a mountainous area of great naturalistic and hiking interests.

Some unknown climbers discovered its walls and set the first climbing routes (that by now should be revamped). Andrea Imbrosciano, recently, set in this spot three climbing areas, with routes of low, medium and medium/high difficulties. There are also two sport multi pitches of low/medium level.

The climbing style is various: there are both slabs and overhangs.

The hardest routes are short and bouldery. The easier ones, instead, are from 20 to 30 meters long.

The ideal climbing season is from April to October.

The approach is quite comfortable, and the bottom of the routes is wide and suitable for families  with children.

To climb the routes you need a rope at least 70 meters long. We recommend the use of the helmet.

Take the highway Salerno-Reggio Calabria and exit at Atena Lucana. Then take the road “Strada Statale 598 di Fondo Valle d’Agri” following the signs to Marsico Nuovo. Pass the town of Pergola and after some Km get to Marsico Nuovo. Once at Marsico Nuovo, head toward the Carabinieri station of the town. Once at the northern outskirts of Marsico Nuovo, near the Carabinieri Station, take Via Calabritto road (this road comes out of the village and then became the Strada Provinciale 5 della Sellata  road (SP5) toward Piana del Lago and the ski lifts Sellata - Pierfaraone). Continue for some Kilometers, pass two farmhouses (first the Masseria Zaino then the Masseria Laseggiara), up to the district of Cognone.

Take the highway A14 “Adriatica” and exit at Foggia. Take the ring road and then turn at the junction for Napoli -  Potenza. Continue on the SS98 road up to Lavello where you must join the SS93 road toward Melfi - Potenza. Continue on the SS93 road up to join the SS407 Basentana road heading toward Potenza. Exit at Potenza Ovest. Cross the stone flyover and turn right toward Pignola. Cross the town of Pignola and continue toward Sellata-Piste da sci. Pass the ski lifts and continue for some kilometers. Then, at a junction, continue straight following the signs to Marsico Nuovo. After about 15 Km you get to the district of Cognone.
