Sasso del Ghiro, two steps from the peaceful town of Pretara, is a small but very popular Climbing spot, in which it is possible to experience the most playful component of climbing, thanks to the characteristic overhanging walls, generously weathered, to the easy approach and to the possibility to cool down in the nearby stream

The short walls of this interesting big block  have been affected by various cycles of riveting: around the mid-1980s, the Mountain guide  Davide Di Giosaffatte set the first lines,  taking advantage of the many tunnels; then Paolo De Laurentis, Pino Sabbatini and Lino Di Marcello increased the routes, with a more sporty riveting. In more recent times, thanks to the valuable work of Paolo De Laurentis, Nino Carlini and especially Lino Di Marcello, this little spot  has reached saturation point and  terraces and benches have even been set up at the base.

In recent years, Marco Baiocco, from L'Aquila, has maintained the routes with dedication.

Following several reports about glue-in bolts  dancing in their holes, we considered revamping the routes with the most problems, and not just those.

All the glue-in bolts have been replaced, some variant have been set, and all the belay have been replaced.  We used epoxy resin Berner MCS Diamond and certified anchors in stainless steel 316L.

More details will be available on the next update of the Climbadvisor's topo.
