Something about Aurisina

Description

Small crag that lies just below the border of Karst plateau.

It is a calm and nice place with spectacular views over the Adriatic Sea. Climbing here is particularly pleasant on cold winter’s days.

In 1985, Paolo Iesu, Paolo Pezzolato and Andrea Varnerin bolted a few lines.

The crag has been refitted from 2013 by Emiliano Zorzi thanks to the contribution of Alternativa Sport shop (Sistiana). In 2015 some new and very hard route has been created by Luciano Frezzolini.

There are two different areas (East and West); in general, the routes are vertical or slightly overhanging on good limestone, although some small holds have to be cleaned.

Approach

Coming from Sistiana follow the provincial road to Aurisina. Just before the tunnel under the railway line and few meters after the motorway (A4) exit of Sistiana, turn right (no signal; dead end street) and get to the end of the street, beyond the Bartolini terminal. The path n. 1 begins on the right.
