Descrizione
This small area is located on the north face of Mount Pellegrino, between the Spigolo Valdesi and the wider and sunny west wall, where is the Valdesi area. It takes its name from the route "Pablo", set in the early eighties. At now it has two dozen routes of medium difficulty, crossing a nice compact and light-colored limestone. The routes have been set by Fabrice Calabrese, Andrea Imbrosciano and Roberto Cerfogli. Mirko Cangiamila, helped by Mauro Giambona and Fabiàn Mèndez Obaldìa, has recently revamped and expanded this area, using 316L stainless steel expansion bolts. Pablo is in shadow for most of the day, thus it's good for climbing when it's warm.
Accesso Stradale
From the center of Palermo, take Viale Regina Margherita rado and cross the Parco della Favorita toward Mondello. Once nearly at Mondello, turn right taking Via Monte Ercta road. It's one of the two accesses to the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, on the top of Mount Pellegrino. At now this road is closed for some rock falls a little more forward the crags, but local climbers usually go along the short stretch that leads to the crags. Park your vehicle about 100 meters after the turning, at an ENEL electric central unit.
