Description

“The River” crag is into the Frasassi Canyon, on the left side of the Sentino river.

It was made in 2016, for the Petzl Contest during the Frasassiclimbingfestival of that year.

The routes climb the rock wall along the river and a big cave, with a characteristic natural arch. The route “Cadono gli dei” was the arena were the best climbers of the Festival competed for the prize offered by Petal.

The 2016 edition was awarded by an evergreen Mauro Calibani and by the very young Laura Rogora.

Approach

From West (that is from a Guild Tadino), take the SS318 road and exit at Valtreara. Then follow first the signs to the Grotte di Frasassi, then the ones to San Vittore.

From East take the A17 highway and exit at Ancona Nord, then take the SS76 road and exit at Sassoferrato. Then follow first the signs to Grotte di Frasassi then the ones to San Vittore.

Park at the begin of the Gola di Frasassi (Frasassi Gorge), at the Cemetery of San Vittore delle Chiuse, and continue on foot.
